Running with a Bunch of Bums

I’ll be hopping a flight later today to head up to San Francisco, where I’ll meet my sister and one of my dearest friends in the whole wide world for dinner tonight at A16 to carbo-load for tomorrow’s 12K run. Bay to Breakers is one of the world’s oldest footraces, and is delicately described on the website as featuring “world-class athletes in addition to costumed runners and ‘fun-loving’ folks out for a great day of running and walking through San Francisco.” I’ve long wanted to run Bay to Breakers, which starts at the Embarcadero and ends at the “breakers” of Ocean Beach, but have been thwarted by injury, wedding showers, pregnancy and all manner of obstacles, some more fun than others. But this year—the race’s 99th anniversary—I’ll be joining in the fun if not the “fun-loving” nudity. Bums away!

  1. Funny, I didn’t see any bums that looked anywhere near as good as those featured on your blog. But I’m here to report that the foodinista kicked bum at the race! Well done. And A16 is absolutely amazing, isn’t it? Wow.
