January 2 typically marks the start of my annual three-week “dry out” (starting any sort of regimen on January 1 is masochistic) but since I was on a recent nine-month dry out, I’m bagging it this year. Instead, I’m focusing on getting back into a running routine, which means—obviously—that I need some new gear. My favorite for both form + function is Stella McCartney for Adidas. I ran the 2007 Los Angeles Marathon in Stella McCartney ¾-length running tights, which are super comfy and breathable, and even hold up well in the rain. But I’m feeling like post-baby, maybe that’s a look I’m not quite ready to rock. Which is why I have my eye on these lightweight woven shorts in “Dark Concrete” to go over the tights. They have a zip pocket for your house key, removing one less excuse for why you can’t go out for a quick neighborhood run…

  1. I was JUST telling someone here at work about your traditional post-New Year’s dry out. I’m most definitely considering it myself. Your special plan this year makes PERFECT sense — surely you dried out QUITE enough in 2008 🙂

    • I feel like I’ve earned a year off, and then some. But that said, I am a big believer in the dry out. I used to wait until the Golden Globes to hit the bubbly again – that was how I always broke the spell.
