Spring Break

 

We’re back from a week in paradise, namely visiting my in-laws in Gulf Stream, Florida. There was lots of swimming in the ocean, lots of french fries by the beach.

 

But best of all was watching my sons play together, with their cousins, with their grandfather. There is no vacation quite as perfect as the one that reminds us how lucky we are to have each other.

Earlier this afternoon we got back from a few heavenly days in the desert—a perfect end to an otherwise imperfect year. Tiny G and his dad went out with a splash in matching Vilebrequin swimsuits, a Father’s Day gift from my parents’ earlier this year. In an hour we will be joining some of our best friends to ring in the New Year at Lucques. While there are many reasons to happily close the books on 2009, there are just as many reasons to be thankful for all that has transpired in the past year, not the least of which is my sister, Claire, moving to Los Angeles, the health and happiness of our family, being crazy in love with my husband and—this one brings a tear to my eyes—Tiny G’s first steps. Splish Splash

This morning Tiny G heads with his daddy to the Pasadena Rose Bowl Aquatic Center for his first-ever swim lesson! There were a couple of requirements for the class: (1) Swim diapers – Tiny will be wearing Pampers Splashers in a Sesame Street pattern. (2) Swim trunks – Tiny is going with a pair of Patagonia Baby Baggies in the Lions, Tigers & Rhinos pattern. Oh, boy! (3) Sun hat – Naturally he has a matching Lions, Tigers & Rhinos hat to go with.
